Entertainer

Robert Hanley takes center stage as twelve hundred people applaud.

Robert Hanley EntertainerReminiscent of Dean Martin, Robert is a talented singer, funny and fun, casual, cool and quick-witted. After finishing his up-tempo opening song, he stands in front of his 17-piece orchestra and calmly says to the audience:

“By the way folks, if you have a cell phone, please, leave it on. I could care less.”

Laughter fills the room.

He has the charm and stage presence of a Hollywood actor and the comic timing of a professional comedian. And, as a matter of fact, he is both a successful actor and a professional comedian.

As an actor, he's been cast in over 100 television shows. But this audience is focused on this performance as he sings the great songs of Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Sinatra—delivering his off-the-cuff humor throughout the show.

Robert Hanley Broadway BobBilled as “Broadway Bob” with a fan club at Hollywood’s famed Comedy Store and Improv, Robert performed as a stand-up on national television as well as in major clubs with the likes of Letterman and Leno. He starts to softly sing, “Call me Irresponsible . . .” when seventeen musicians abruptly interrupt and yell, “YOU’RE IRRESPONSIBLE!”

The audience laughs. Robert says, “And these are my friends.”

More laughter.

The syndicated television show “Extra,” on several occasions, has invited him to appear as an acting expert. You ask yourself: Is this the same guy?

It is.

Robert Hanley Entertainer It’s the same guy, too, who hosted game shows for the ABC and CBS television networks and here, performing “live,” his quick-on-his-feet talents are apparent: When a Catholic nun in the audience says she’s with the “Sisters of Charity,” he responds, “Gotta five?”

Stand-up comedian and NBC weather person Fritz Coleman opened for him tonight. Last time it was the respected, clean comic Jimmy Brogan who regularly opens for Leno’s live shows.

Robert stands center stage saying:

“You know when you’re in an Italian restaurant run by the mob . . . on the menu they offer you broken leg of lamb.”

He’s the same guy who hosted the California Special Olympics for twenty-five years and today performs for countless nonprofit organizations like the City of Hope.

“Your waitress’s name is Vito.” More laughter.

“Hanging next to the picture of Sinatra is Tony Soprano . . . not a picture. It’s really Tony!”

Now, an hour-and-a-half later, he brings the show to a close. The audience is standing, applauding. They’ve had a great time and so has he.

“Raising funds and allowing the guests to have fun: Your participation helped us achieve both goals. We raised over $22,000.00 at the event. Your performance demonstrated a degree of professionalism and talent that truly awed the audience. I’ve dealt with others who sign a contract and disappear until three days before show time. That was not the case in working with you. Not only was the communication excellent, but the entire relationship was a partnership from the start. For that professionalism in particular, I thank you.”
—K.C. Fowler, Executive Director, Granada Hills Hospital, Granada Hills, Ca.

“From his initial downbeat to its last triumphant encore, Robert Hanley and his Orchestra dazzled the crowd of parishioners and friends with their renditions of classic favorites. Hanley had them on their feet for hours.”
—Mrs. Anne-Marie Hudani, School Principal, St. John Fisher, Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca.

Robert Hanley“Mr. Hanley is a longtime, active member of this parish. The result of his inspiration and hard work was our Fun Night Under The Stars last September. A committee was formed, and Mr. Hanley was in charge of the entertainment. The band was outstanding. Mr. Hanley’s own singing and hosting were delightful. It was professional entertainment of the highest quality. What is more, Robert did all this in such a way that the evening was affordable for a family of modest means. It was a great success for us. A capacity crowd of parishioners enjoyed a splendid evening . . . It was a wonderful community-building experience for our parish family.”
—Rev. Austin C. Doran, Pastor, Our Lady of Grace, Encino, Ca.

“What started as a ‘Pie in the sky’ idea for a program opportunity became a powerful reality with your professional vision, guidance and your generous spirit.
